BE HOPEFUL
We have a lot to offer. The common bond that we have with you is hearing
loss. And that bond can be strong. New friendships can be real. We try
to help each other deal successfully with life in a hearing world.
We wish we could promise that joining our group would solve all your
hearing loss problems. We can’t. But we can promise to show you
ways to cope with those hearing problems.
One of the most powerful aids to communicating is learning to lip read.
Our Chapter’s instructors, Elfriede MacIver (Beginners Class),
and Linda DeGuire (Intermedate Class) conduct the
lip reading
classes under the auspices of Long Beach Community College, at the
Weingart Senior Center.
(see map)
The class for Beginners at 10:00 AM on Mondays; Intermediate at
9:30 AM on Wednesdays. Classes begin on August
18, 2009, with
registration in the classroom. After that date, walk-ins are welcome.
See our chapter newsletter for additional details.
Our name is Hearing Loss Association of America. You are encouraged to attend
our meetings where information and hearing loss experiences are
exchanged. You are encouraged to become familiar with the wealth of
material in our Library. We plan our programs to be focused on hearing
loss – all of this to enable you to help yourself to live successfully
in a hearing world.
We look forward to meeting you and helping! Don't be alone. Please see us.
